Metal at the heart of Auvergne
The Arverne Metal Fest is a metal music festival born in 2010 from the initiative of the Pro-Pulse association and its members passionate about metal music. Located in Gerzat, a commune in the first ring of the Clermont-Ferrand urban area, the festival has established itself as an unmissable event for metal fans in central France.
A Rich and Varied Program
Arverne Metal Fest stands out for its commitment to covering all sub-genres of metal, offering an eclectic and powerful lineup:
- Death metal and brutal death: the most extreme bands on the French and international scene
- Thrash metal: the raw energy and sharp riffs of the Bay Area's heirs
- Progressive metal: complex and ambitious compositions
- Screamo and metalcore: the fusion of metal and hardcore punk
- Melodic metal: powerful harmonies and unifying choruses
Among the headliners who have marked the festival are bands like Dagoba, Eths, Loudblast, and CloverSeeds, alongside many developing regional bands.
Salle Le Galion, Temple of Auvergne Metal
The festival takes place at the Salle Le Galion in Gerzat, a multi-purpose venue offering professional technical conditions to host metal concerts. Located a few kilometers north of Clermont-Ferrand, this venue can accommodate several hundred spectators in an intimate atmosphere conducive to intense concerts.
Pro-Pulse, an Association Serving Metal
The Pro-Pulse association, founded in 2002, is behind the festival. Initially created to support the death metal band Dislocation, the association gradually expanded its activities: equipment transport, concert organization, and management of the Studio Pro-Pulse (created in 2005) for recording and supporting local bands. Arverne Metal Fest represents the association's most ambitious project, with the support of partner associations Black Night, Inertia, and Cercle 2 Feu Production.
History of Editions
The festival had three editions:
- 2010: Inaugural founding edition at Salle Le Galion in Gerzat
- 2012: Second edition on April 7th and 8th, 2012, with an enriched lineup including Dagoba, Eths, Loudblast, and CloverSeeds. Several hundred metal fans gathered for two intense evenings
- 2013: A third edition was planned for April 2014, with crowdfunding launched on Ulule, but the project did not materialize (fundraising goal of €3,000 not reached)
Despite the festival's hiatus, Arverne Metal Fest remains in memory as a passionate initiative that brought together the Auvergne metal community around a quality event, driven by dedicated volunteers and a loyal audience.
