About Ay-Roop
Ay-Roop is the biennial highlight of contemporary circus arts supported by the Ay-Roop association, Scène de Territoire Cirque, in Rennes Métropole and Ille-et-Vilaine. Created in 2005, the association develops a comprehensive project dedicated to circus: production, distribution, support for companies, year-round residencies, and a major public festival every two years. The last edition, in June 2025, celebrated the association's 20th anniversary. No festival edition scheduled for 2026: the next one will be held from June 3 to 13, 2027. The season's activities (residencies, residency showcases, workshops, previews) continue throughout the year at Le Milieu, in Saint-Jacques-de-la-Lande.

The last edition of the Ay-Roop festival was held from June 6 to 20, 2025 in Rennes Métropole and Ille-et-Vilaine. It celebrated the association's 20th anniversary with two big tops, a festival village at Le Milieu (Saint-Jacques-de-la-Lande), aquatic, magic, acrobatic, street performances, and cabarets under big top.

In the meantime: the artistic season at Le Milieu
Throughout the year, Ay-Roop hosts companies in residency at Le Milieu (rue du Haut Bois, Saint-Jacques-de-la-Lande). On average once a month, a public residency showcase allows the public to discover the creation stage of a project and meet the artists. The monthly calendar is published on the official website.

Ay-Roop, contemporary circus in Rennes Métropole
Ay-Roop, Scène de Territoire Cirque, is a unique and comprehensive project rooted in the Rennes territory, working to develop circus and share it with the widest audience, from local to international. Created in 2005, the Ay-Roop association supports national and international artists and companies in the production, distribution, and communication of their shows, and organizes a major biennial festival highlight open to the public every two years.
An innovative biennial circus festival
The Ay-Roop festival is a biennial highlight that showcases the most inventive forms of a constantly evolving hybrid circus: acrobatics, juggling, dance, theatre, magic, and visual arts break free from traditional codes to offer the public a renewed and expanded definition of the term "circus". Invited companies present original and audacious creations, aimed at all audiences.
Recent editions
The latest editions of the festival took place in Rennes Métropole and Ille-et-Vilaine, with between 7,000 and 9,000 spectators per edition. The 2025 edition, from June 6 to 20, 2025, celebrated the association's 20th anniversary with two big tops, aquatic, magical, acrobatic, and itinerant shows, as well as a festival village set up at Le Milieu, in Saint-Jacques-de-la-Lande.

Le Milieu, house of circus in Saint-Jacques-de-la-Lande
Since 2024, Ay-Roop has invested in Le Milieu, a metropolitan cultural facility located at the Ferme du Haut-Bois, in Saint-Jacques-de-la-Lande. This "singular house of circus" hosts creation residencies, public residency showcases (one per month on average, during the season), workshops, and artist/public meetings throughout the year.
