Performing arts festival for early childhood in the Dinan region
Premiers Émois is a performing arts festival entirely dedicated to early childhood. Created in 2004 by the Théâtre en Rance association, it takes place every year in early October in the Dinan Agglomération territory. The festival invites early childhood care facilities, nurseries, childminders, and families to follow an awakening journey for 0-3 year olds with professional artists.
Each edition hosts four companies that present creations specially designed for very young audiences. Object theater, puppets, music, dance, light, and colors: the shows stimulate the senses and imagination of toddlers in a format adapted to their attention span and sensitivity. Performances take place in the performance venues of the agglomeration, notably the Théâtre des Jacobins in Dinan, the SolenVal hall in Plancoët, and the Embarcadère in Plélan-le-Petit.
Each edition programs 24 performances: 16 school sessions welcoming around 800 children and accompanying adults, and 8 public sessions bringing together around 400 spectators. This fine-grained network across the territory allows for reaching a wide audience and democratizing access to performing arts from the youngest age.
The 21st edition of Premiers Émois is expected in late September – early October 2026 in the Dinan Agglomération territory. The festival will offer creations for toddlers (0-3 years) in the agglomeration's performance venues.
The program will be announced on www.theatre-en-rance.com.
