About Georges Festival

The Georges Festival pays tribute to the Rennes-based architect Georges Maillols, creator of the Tour des Horizons and the Caravelle, while exploring how the city is built and experienced every two years. Organized by the Maison de l'architecture et des espaces en Bretagne, the festival takes over around twenty locations across the Rennes metropolitan area—including galleries, industrial sites, heritage buildings, and schools—with a program featuring exhibitions, urban tours, screenings, discussions, and workshops.

Designed for a wide audience, it brings together architects, urban planners, artists, designers, researchers, and local residents to explore a new theme with each edition.

Georges Festival — edition 2026

The 2026 edition takes "night as its medium," observing how architecture and urban life transform once the sun goes down. The opening night on September 24th features a lecture by geographer Luc Gwiazdzinski on the city's nocturnal rhythms, followed by a social gathering with a food truck and a DJ set. Through October 11th, the festival will host an exhibition, a dedicated children's exhibit, urban tours, screenings, and workshops across twenty locations throughout the Rennes metropolitan area.
