Marathon, relay half-marathon and 10 km in Rennes — a runner who plants trees
The Rennes Green Marathon is a major running race organized every autumn in Rennes, Ille-et-Vilaine (Brittany). A solidarity and ecological race, it combines sporting effort with a concrete environmental commitment: for each participant, trees are planted in partnership with the Yves Rocher Foundation (2026 commitment: 2 km covered = 1 tree planted). In fourteen editions, the event has contributed to the planting of over 1.7 million trees.
The event takes place over two days, Saturday evening and Sunday morning. On the program: the marathon (42.195 km), the four-person relay marathon, the duo marathon, a nocturnal 10 km, a 5 km women's race, and a family walk. The course, entirely urban and known for being very fast, runs through the streets of central Rennes, starting from Mail François-Mitterrand and finishing on Esplanade Charles-de-Gaulle.
Supporting the Brittany Marathon Championship and holding an international label, the Green Marathon has established itself as one of the major running events in the West of France. The festive atmosphere on Saturday evening, the challenge on Sunday morning, and the ecological dimension make it a unique event in the calendar of French races.
The 15th edition of the Rennes Green Marathon takes place on Saturday, October 17 and Sunday, October 18, 2026. The program includes: marathon (42.195 km), relay and duo marathon, night 10 km race, women's race and family walk of 5 km, on a 100% urban course. As every year, the event plants trees with the Yves Rocher Foundation (2 km covered = 1 tree planted).

The course, entirely urban and very fast (approximately 110 m elevation gain), starts from Mail François-Mitterrand and finishes on Esplanade Charles-de-Gaulle.
