Folk and world music on the natural balcony of the 4 Fils Aymon
The Aymon Folk Festival is a folk and world music festival created in 1997 in Bogny-sur-Meuse, in the Ardennes. It is held every summer at the end of July on the Platelle des 4 Fils Aymon, a spectacular natural balcony overlooking the Meuse valley. Initially dedicated to Celtic music, the festival has opened up to rock, ska, and world music, attracting around 5,500 festival-goers in a friendly atmosphere with on-site camping and catering.
Since 1997, the Aymon Folk Festival has taken over the Platelle des 4 Fils Aymon every summer, an emblematic natural site in Bogny-sur-Meuse overlooking the Meuse valley. This natural balcony offers an exceptional panorama of the river's meanders and the Ardennes forests, providing a unique setting for an open-air music festival. The site, completely renovated since 2010, combines the wild beauty of the landscape with facilities adapted for public reception.
Born from a passion for Celtic music, the Aymon Folk Festival has continuously expanded its programming over the years. Today, the festival offers an eclectic mix of folk, rock, ska, punk, and world music. Artists such as Les Wampas, Les Hurlements d'Léo, Billy Ze Kick, Korrigan's Celtic Rock, and Uncle Bard & The Dirty Bastard have graced the stage of the Platelle, testifying to the richness and diversity of the programming.
The Aymon Folk Festival stands out for its friendly and family atmosphere. The site features a large covered area with typical and traditional catering, allowing festival-goers to eat while enjoying the concerts. A campsite is available for those who wish to pitch their tents and experience the festival from within. Shuttles connect the various parking areas to the site, facilitating access to this location perched above the Meuse.
With approximately 5,500 spectators per edition, the Aymon Folk Festival has become a major event in the cultural life of the Ardennes. The festival is rooted in the legendary landscape of the 4 Fils Aymon, those four heroic brothers from medieval epic poems who rode the horse Bayard. This connection to the Ardennes legend gives the festival a strong symbolic dimension, blending cultural heritage and contemporary musical creation in an exceptional natural setting.
