Back to Back Invitational: Freestyle Takes Over Megève
The Back to Back Invitational was born from the passion of brothers Andy and Sandy Collet, who leveraged over a decade of experience in the world of freestyle skiing to create a one-of-a-kind event. What started as a freeski competition among friends has become a true festival that merges extreme sports, urban culture, and electronic music in the prestigious setting of the Megève resort.
The event draws its identity from the diversity of its disciplines: moguls, speed riding, ski-base jumping, backcountry, knuckle contests, and wallride competitions follow one another on the slopes of the Megève ski area, offering a breathtaking spectacle to spectators at the foot of the slopes or following the action live on a giant screen.
A Two-Faced Festival: Sports by Day, Music by Night
During the day, the world's best riders compete on the Bas Couteray course for a share of the 5,000 euro prize money. The competitions alternate between speed, technique, and style events, with innovative formats like the WindShut, an emblematic event featuring legendary riders. Pedestrian access to the bottom of the slopes is free, with a giant screen broadcasting the highlights of the high-altitude events.
Evenings at the Palais
In the evening, the atmosphere shifts to celebration with electro parties at the Palais, Megève's new concert hall located in the heart of the resort. The lineups mix established DJs and emerging talents from the French electronic scene, in a festive atmosphere that extends the day's adrenaline.
A Family-Friendly and Accessible Event
The Back to Back Invitational stands out for its commitment to being accessible to all audiences. The Kids Club offers trampolines, airbags, and supervised activities for the younger ones, while families can enjoy the sports spectacle for free from the bottom of the slopes. The daytime part of the event is free; only the evening parties at the Palais require an entrance ticket.
A Platform for Freestyle Culture
Beyond the competition, the Back to Back Invitational contributes to the promotion of freestyle and freeride culture. By bringing together the best riders in such an iconic resort as Megève, the event helps recognize freestyle skiing as a full-fledged artistic and sporting discipline, while offering spectators a memorable visual and auditory experience.
