Every year in January, the town of Ballan-Miré, located at the gates of Tours Métropole, hosts its Truffle Market on the Place du 11 Novembre. Organized by the Association des Trufficulteurs de Touraine, this event is one of the major truffle gatherings of the winter season in Indre-et-Loire.

Passionate Truffle Growers

About ten local truffle growers gather to offer their harvests of black truffle (Tuber melanosporum), the famous black diamond of French gastronomy. Each truffle is carefully inspected and graded before sale, guaranteeing buyers impeccable quality. Prices vary depending on the season and the quality of the harvest, generally between 800 and 1,200 euros per kilogram.

Quality Regional Specialties

Beyond truffles, the market also offers other regional specialties sold directly by producers: Touraine saffron, honey, goat cheeses, local appellation wines (Touraine, Vouvray, Chinon), foie gras, confits, and other local delicacies. It's an opportunity for visitors to fill their baskets with exceptional products while supporting short supply chains.
