Free music and street arts festival in the heart of Narbonne
Every year in late August, Barques en Scène takes over the historic center of Narbonne for three evenings of celebration and music. The Promenade des Barques, an emblematic location named after the boats that once docked there to unload their goods, becomes the beating heart of the city during the festival. The Cours Mirabeau and the Cours de la République host the main stage where national and international artists perform in a festive and popular atmosphere typical of the South of France.
The programming of Barques en Scène is distinguished by its musical eclecticism, blending popular hits, avant-garde discoveries, and the promotion of local talent. Each evening, a free concert on the main stage of Cours Mirabeau draws thousands of spectators. Over the years, the festival has hosted artists as diverse as Dadju, Patrick Fiori, Pierre de Maere, Vince, and the Totalement 90 tour. This musical diversity has gradually shaped the festival's identity, positioning it as a musical meeting point capable of appealing to all audiences.
Beyond the concerts, Barques en Scène offers theatrical parades and original street performances each evening, where troupes of artists transform the streets of the historic center into ephemeral stage spaces. These spectacular parades invite spectators to rediscover Narbonne's rich architectural heritage from a new and festive perspective. Notable creations include the shows Astria, Mare Nostrum, and Dragon, which parade through the city's alleys starting at 7:30 PM.
The warm atmosphere of the bodegas is an essential pillar of the festival. These convivial spaces allow for moments of relaxation over a drink and local specialties, in a festive atmosphere typical of the Southern spirit. The bodegas are set up along the Promenade des Barques and offer a gastronomic and musical experience that complements the main concerts on the central stage. The festival thus perfectly embodies the Narbonne art of living, combining culture, conviviality, and generosity.
Barques en Scène returns from August 20 to 22, 2026 in the heart of Narbonne for three evenings of free concerts, artistic strolls, and bodegas. Organized by the City of Narbonne, the festival takes over Cours Mirabeau and the city center with a general public program: Superbus on Thursday, the show Totalement 80 on Friday, and Amir on Saturday.
