About Basket Fair
The Issigeac Basket and Basketry Fair is a unique craft event in Périgord that brings together around thirty exhibitors from all over France and Belgium each summer. The art of basketry celebrated in Issigeac
The Issigeac Basket and Basketry Fair is a major craft event in Périgord Pourpre. Each summer, around thirty exhibitors from all over France and Belgium gather at the Parking de la Banège, a stone's throw from the heart of Issigeac, to present their creations in wicker and basketry.
From bouyricou to contemporary creations
Visitors discover the techniques for making baskets, from the traditional "bouyricou" Périgourdin — the emblematic grape harvest basket — to contemporary creations made from wicker, rattan, chestnut, and other plant fibers. Artisans give live demonstrations, sharing ancestral know-how.
Entertainment and conviviality
The fair offers free children's workshops on creative themes, a "Le Circophone" carousel with participatory rotation accompanied by a barrel organ and a clarinet, a competition for the most beautiful stand, and a raffle with several draws throughout the day.
