The Wine and Gastronomy Fair: A Celebration of Local Produce in Blois
The Blois Wine and Gastronomy Fair is a major event for lovers of wine and local produce in Loir-et-Cher. Each year, about sixty exhibitors—independent winemakers from all wine regions of France, local producers, and food artisans—gather in Blois for a festive and gourmet weekend.
A Panorama of French Vineyards
The fair offers an exceptional panorama of French vineyards. From the appellations of the Loire Valley (Touraine, Cheverny, Vouvray, Chinon, Sancerre) to the great growths of Bordeaux, Burgundy, the Rhône Valley, and Alsace, visitors can taste and compare a wide variety of wines, champagnes, and crémants presented directly by the winemakers. This encounter with producers allows for an understanding of terroirs, grape varieties, and winemaking methods, in a spirit of exchange and sharing.
Gastronomy and Local Produce
Beyond wines, the fair showcases exceptional gastronomic products:
- Foie gras and artisanal charcuterie
- Cheeses from France and beyond
- Truffles and mushrooms
- Tapenades, olive oils, and condiments
- Chocolates, sweets, and pastries
- Honeys and bee products
Each producer offers free tastings at their stand, allowing visitors to discover new flavors and make their purchases with full knowledge.
A Friendly and Accessible Event
The Wine and Gastronomy Fair is distinguished by its friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Visitors move freely between stands, chat with exhibitors, share a glass and a smile. Occasional activities—food and wine pairings, culinary demonstrations, guided tastings—punctuate the weekend and enrich the visitor experience.
Support for Local Agriculture
By bringing together local producers and winemakers, the fair contributes to the support of local agriculture and short supply chains. The Loir-et-Cher Chamber of Agriculture supports the event, which helps promote the winemaking and gastronomic know-how of the region.
