About Board Sports Weekend
Every year, the Week-end de la Glisse brings together surf, stand-up paddle, bodyboard, longboard, and skate enthusiasts on the beach of Pontaillac in Royan for a series of workshops and competitions, all topped off with free evening concerts. Originally born from a gathering of surfers and skaters in Pontaillac in the late 1980s, the event was revived in 2016 by the Charente-Maritime Surf Committee and the Royan Glisse brand in its current "Rock, Surf'N'Skate" format.
Board Sports Weekend — edition 2026
For its 2026 edition, the Week-end de la Glisse returns from September 18th to 20th to Pontaillac beach. The event features the EuroTour SUP 5 stand-up paddle competition, boasting an €8,000 prize pool, alongside three nights of free beachfront concerts headlined by Lofofora, Johnny Mafia, and Outrage.

The three-day event also includes introductory sessions and demonstrations for surfing, stand-up paddleboarding, bodyboarding, longboarding, skateboarding, beach volleyball, beach rugby, roller derby, and street squash, as well as an association village featuring around thirty sports, environmental, and outreach organizations.

Practical information — Board Sports Weekend
The Week-end de la Glisse village is set up on the Pontaillac esplanade in Royan. The Campéole Pontaillac Plage campsite, located just 300 meters from the beach, is the official accommodation partner for the event.
The weekend features five main pillars: sports (introductory sessions, demonstrations, and competitions), music (free beach concerts), cultural workshops, an educational day for local schools in the Royan area, and a community section bringing together around thirty environmental, sports, and prevention organizations. It is organized by the Charente-Maritime Surf Committee—a non-profit association delegated by the French Surf Federation—in partnership with Royan Glisse, a brand launched in 2012 by the Royan Tourist Office to promote board sports in the region.
