Les Coréades d'Automne: thirty years of choral and symphonic music

Since 1995, the Les Coréades d'Automne festival has been the unmissable event for choral and symphonic music in Nouvelle-Aquitaine. Supported by CoRéAM (Regional Collective of Musical Activities), this touring festival takes over the most beautiful churches and concert halls in the region every autumn, from La Rochelle to Poitiers, including Fontenay-le-Comte, Niort, Angoulême, and Surgères.

An ambitious artistic project

Under the artistic direction of Jean-Yves Gaudin, Les Coréades brings together the CoRéAM Regional Choral Ensemble, the choir Chorus 17 from La Rochelle, the ensemble Accords Libres from Mérignac, and the Orchestra of the National Opera of Roussé (Bulgaria), a faithful partner since 1996. Each edition is built around a major choral and symphonic work from the classical or romantic repertoire: Verdi's Requiem, Carl Orff's Carmina Burana, Vivaldi's Gloria, Mozart's masses, or Haydn's oratorios.

Fontenay-le-Comte, the Vendée stop of the festival

The town of Fontenay-le-Comte, former capital of Bas-Poitou and a city of art and history, regularly hosts a stop of Les Coréades in the prestigious setting of the Église Notre-Dame de l'Assomption. The remarkable acoustics of this Gothic building offer an ideal backdrop for the festival's grand choral and symphonic frescoes. This Vendée concert allows the public in the south of Vendée to discover a program of the highest caliber without leaving their region.

Training and passing on the passion for choral singing

Beyond the concerts, CoRéAM pursues a fundamental mission of training and transmission. The association encourages the discovery of music for all audiences and trains amateur singers under the guidance of professionals. Les Coréades are thus the result of collective work involving over a hundred passionate volunteer choristers, united around a demanding and generous artistic project.
