About Bord du Champ Theatre Festival

In Locmaria, on the island of Belle-Île-en-Mer, the Théâtre au Bord du Champ transforms the Borchudan garden into an open-air stage every summer for readings, performances, and gatherings. Spanning 2.5 hectares, the garden is open to the public from May to September and serves as a natural backdrop for invited actors and musicians.

The festival features a blend of literary readings, musical performances, and theatrical works, with either free entry or a modest fee depending on the evening. Actor Michel Denance is a regular guest; he has performed readings of Baudelaire and Lautréamont overlooking the sea at Star Fao beach, and he will return in 2026 to present the correspondence of Claude Monet from his 1886 stay on Belle-Île.
