The British and Irish Film Week is a film festival held every winter at Le Grand Logis, the performance hall of the town of Bruz, in Ille-et-Vilaine (Brittany, Rennes metropolitan area). The festival celebrates cinema from across the Channel and Ireland through a program in original version with subtitles.
The program combines previews, unreleased films or films rarely seen in France, and a feature film competition submitted to public vote (Public Prize) as well as a youth jury. The festival also offers an annual focus on a British or Irish film personality, masterclasses on the history of English-speaking cinema, as well as free workshops (introduction to directing, sound effects and dubbing) and a young audience program.
Beyond the screenings, Le Grand Logis adopts a British feel for the duration of the festival: a tea time area with tasting of English specialties, activities at the media library, an escape game, and family-friendly offerings. The closing night features a selection of short films and the announcement of the awards.
