Court Métrange in Rennes
Court Métrange is the only festival in France entirely devoted to the fantastic genre in short filmmaking. Established in 2003, it holds a category 1 classification from the Centre national du cinéma et de l'image animée.
An International Competition
The festival is built around an international competition of fantastic, strange, and unusual short films, with screenings hosted at the Pathé cinema in Rennes.
The Young Audience Program
Each year, an educational component extends the festival at the TNB and Arvor cinemas, featuring age-appropriate short film screenings, filmmaking workshops, and a writing contest called Critique sur Court. Students vote after the screenings, and their awards are part of the official festival honors.
Beyond the Competition
The festival also includes conferences, meet-and-greets, unusual tours, exhibitions, and feature film screenings. The Métrange Nomade initiative takes the festival outside its traditional venues with workshops, artist residencies in schools, and awareness sessions in areas with less cultural access.
