Capbreton Jazz Festival: Jazz in Freedom by the Ocean

The Capbreton Jazz Festival was born in 1990 from the passion of Christian Nogaro, a renowned luthier and jazz lover. For over thirty years, this entirely free festival has enlivened the seaside town of Capbreton for a week each summer, offering the public quality concerts in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

A Two-Part Festival

The Capbreton Jazz Festival unfolds in two distinct phases:

• Jazz in Town: During the first few days, jazz takes over the bars, restaurants, and unique venues in the center of Capbreton, with intimate concerts and screenings.
• The Jazz Village: Starting on Friday, the public garden transforms into a festive village with three days of exceptional concerts, food trucks, and a party atmosphere.

A Tribute to Christian Nogaro

Each edition pays tribute to Christian Nogaro, creator of the festival and an emblematic figure of Capbreton's cultural life. His vision of jazz that is accessible to all, free, and open, continues to animate the spirit of the festival. The Capbreton Jazz Festival has become a major summer event on the Landes coast, attracting several thousand spectators each year.
