The colorful festival of the city of viaducts
The Carnaval d'Arcueil enlivens the streets of this small town in Val-de-Marne each spring, famous for its Roman aqueduct and viaduct. Costumed associations, schools, and residents gather for a festive parade with floats, brass bands, and entertainment, in a warm and friendly atmosphere reflecting Arcueil's popular and supportive identity.
The Carnaval d'Arcueil is a popular festival that celebrates community life each spring in this small town in Val-de-Marne, known for its Roman remains and aqueduct. Despite its modest size, Arcueil has a dynamic associative fabric and a strong festive tradition, of which the carnival is the most visible and unifying expression.
The Carnaval d'Arcueil parade starts from the vicinity of the town hall or Place de la Résistance, and crosses the streets of the town center of Arcueil-Cachan, the main artery connecting the two communes. The procession brings together decorated floats by local associations, festive brass bands, percussion groups, dance troupes, and hundreds of costumed participants.
Arcueil's human scale gives the carnival a particularly warm and friendly atmosphere. Everyone knows their neighbors, children meet their classmates, and older residents cross paths with newcomers. It is this human proximity that gives the Carnaval d'Arcueil its charm.
Arcueil is a city where populations of very diverse origins coexist, and its carnival reflects this diversity. Cultural associations from various Arcueil communities—Maghrebi, Sub-Saharan African, Asian, Caribbean, and European—participate in the parade with their costumes and music, creating a festive and colorful mix that Arcueil residents are proud of.
Arcueil is a city committed to issues of solidarity, equality, and the fight against discrimination. Its carnival reflects these values: it is an inclusive festival, open to all without distinction of age, origin, or social status. Animations accessible to people with disabilities are planned, and the emphasis is on the participation of the greatest number.
The day concludes with a friendly gathering with music, entertainment, and the symbolic burning of King Carnival. A moment of shared joy that closes this beautiful Arcueil spring festival in an atmosphere of fraternity.
