Carnival parade from the Town Hall for the festive opening of Palaiseau Plage
Every summer, the town of Palaiseau launches its summer season with a festive opening carnival. From the Town Hall, a colorful parade of schoolchildren, brass bands, and costumed troupes makes its way musically to the Georges Collet stadium, kicking off Palaiseau Plage. A friendly, free event open to the whole family.
In Palaiseau (91120), the carnival has a unique character: it doesn't mark the end of winter as in the classic tradition, but rather the opening of the summer season. Every year at the end of June, the town celebrates the launch of Palaiseau Plage with a grand opening carnival, which has become one of the most anticipated popular events of the Palaiseau summer.
The opening carnival starts from the forecourt of the Hôtel de Ville (Town Hall) in Palaiseau. The town's schoolchildren, in costume and full of joy, join the procession of brass bands, costumed troupes, and entertainers. The parade sets off musically through the streets of the town center to reach the stade Georges Collet and its fine sand, where Palaiseau Plage will officially open its doors.
This festive journey, punctuated by songs, confetti, and entertainment, creates a popular festive atmosphere that brings together all generations. The procession is followed by many residents and visitors who come to witness the spectacular launch of the urban beach.
Palaiseau Plage is a flagship event of the town, offering several weeks of seaside, sports, and cultural outdoor activities every summer at the Georges Collet stadium. Inaugurated by the opening carnival, the urban beach offers daily activities (except Mondays) from 3 PM to 9:30 PM: beach sports, children's entertainment, concerts, relaxation areas, and food stalls.
The opening carnival, which officially inaugurates this major summer event, sets the tone: friendliness, creativity, and accessibility for all. Entry is free and open.
The Carnaval de Palaiseau is organized by the City of Palaiseau with the participation of schools, local associations, and municipal services. Children are encouraged to come in costume, and parents, grandparents, and friends join the festive procession for this moment of intergenerational sharing.
Palaiseau, a growing town on the Saclay plateau, cherishes its popular festivities as part of its cultural traditions, fostering social cohesion and togetherness. The opening carnival of Palaiseau Plage is a prime example.
