Free and traveling open-air cinema in the Yvelines
Yvelines Ciné is the free and traveling open-air cinema initiative of the Department of Yvelines. Since 2012, at the end of each summer, from mid-August to mid-September, a giant screen travels through the towns of Yvelines to offer free screenings under the stars. In 2025, the 14th edition scheduled 78 screenings in as many towns, offering the people of Yvelines a varied cinematic panorama mixing French comedies, animated films for children, American blockbusters, and cult films. Set up in village squares, parks, or sports fields, Yvelines Ciné transforms an everyday place into an open-air cinema every evening, in a family-friendly and friendly atmosphere. This traveling festival embodies the Department's commitment to democratizing access to culture and highlighting local heritage.
Since 2012, the Departmental Council of Yvelines has organized Yvelines Ciné, an open-air cinema festival that travels throughout the region at the end of each summer. From mid-August to mid-September, a traveling giant screen is set up each evening in a different town for a free screening under the stars. In fourteen editions, Yvelines Ciné has become an unmissable summer event for thousands of families in Yvelines.
Each edition programs as many screenings as the department's number: 78 screenings in 78 towns, a symbolic nod that illustrates the event's exceptional territorial coverage. From towns like Versailles, Saint-Germain-en-Laye, or Rambouillet to small rural communes in the Mantois or the Chevreuse Valley, Yvelines Ciné reaches all territories without exception.
The film selection is designed to appeal to the widest audience: recent French comedies, animated films for younger viewers, adventure and science fiction blockbusters, and cinema classics. Each screening is a moment of family and intergenerational sharing, in a relaxed and festive atmosphere. Public welcome generally begins at 7 p.m., with a screening at dusk.
Yvelines Ciné is set up in locations chosen for their heritage or landscape value: castle courtyards, historic squares, parks and gardens, and the banks of the Seine. Each screening is an opportunity to discover or rediscover a remarkable site in the department, combining cinematic pleasure with the promotion of the territory.
The 15th edition of Yvelines Ciné will again offer free open-air screenings in the towns of Yvelines, from mid-August to mid-September 2026. The program will be announced during the summer.
