In the small village of Saint-Germain-de-Calberte, nestled in the hollow of the Cévennes valleys, a unique musical festival resonates every two years. Chahut! Musiques en Cévennes is a human-scale event that bets on artistic excellence and proximity to the public, in the heart of a rural territory inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list.

A Place Steeped in History

The festival concerts take place in the temple of Saint-Germain-de-Calberte, a building whose construction was decided in 1654 and inaugurated in 1656. This emblematic place of Protestant history in the Cévennes offers remarkable acoustics and a unique atmosphere, creating a dialogue between heritage and contemporary creation. The intimacy of the temple, its stone, and its natural light give the concerts a special dimension, far from standardized large stages.

An Audacious and Open Program

Under the artistic direction of Juliette de Massy, the festival offers a program that blurs the lines between musical genres. Classical music, contemporary music, electroacoustic music, free improvisation, sound poetry, vocal performances, and original creations coexist and blend throughout the concerts.
