Open-air rock and contemporary music festival in Plancy-l'Abbaye, Aube
The ChalkyRock Festival is an open-air rock and contemporary music festival held every summer at the Stade Casumaro in Plancy-l'Abbaye, Aube. Formerly known as Celtic Rock Festival, it has been organized since 2008 by the association Plancy Sports Loisirs. Renamed ChalkyRock in 2023 to reflect its expanded musical programming, the festival offers two days of concerts with headliners like Boulevard des Airs, in a friendly and festive atmosphere. Camping is free and the festival is accessible to all ages.
Born in 2008 under the name Celtic Rock Festival, the Plancy-l'Abbaye festival is the brainchild of a group of friends from the association Plancy Sports Loisirs, founded in 1972, who wanted to organize a musical event in this rural commune in the Aube region. Initially focused on Celtic sounds, the festival gradually broadened its musical palette to embrace rock, reggae, festive chanson, and contemporary music. In 2023, this evolution led to a name change: the festival became ChalkyRock, a nod to the chalk (chalk) so characteristic of the Champagne region.
Every summer, the Stade Casumaro in Plancy-l'Abbaye transforms into an open-air festival stage to host two evenings of concerts. The lineup mixes national headliners and emerging artists in a warm and relaxed atmosphere. The 2025 edition notably featured Boulevard des Airs, Jahneration, The Rumpled, Les 3 Fromages, Cachemire, Reaven, and Crazy Gravy, accompanied by the band Banda Lou Champagnou and DJ Michel Michel. Doors open in the late afternoon, and the music plays until the early morning.
The spirit of ChalkyRock is above all about friendliness. The festival offers free camping with around 300 pitches on-site, allowing festival-goers to extend the experience beyond the concerts. The municipal campsite « Le Bout de la Ville » in Méry-sur-Seine, a 5-minute walk away, also offers pitches with electrical hook-ups and caravans for rent. On the festival site, a bar and food stalls are available to feed festival-goers throughout the two days.
Rooted in the associative and rural fabric of the Aube region, the ChalkyRock Festival has grown while maintaining its spirit of proximity and accessibility. In 2020, after considering the future of the event, the team decided to step up by organizing two full days outdoors at the municipal stadium, with the first edition in this new format in 2022. Entry is free for children under 12, making ChalkyRock a family-friendly and festive event that contributes to the cultural dynamism of the chalky Champagne region.
