Festival of contemporary music and performing arts under a big top in Landos
The ChaPivari festival is an event of contemporary music and performing arts organized by the ChaRivari association in Landos, Haute-Loire. Created in 2005, this multidisciplinary festival brings together a multitude of artists for two days each year under a circus tent, mixing concerts of contemporary music, circus shows, theater, puppetry, and cinema. Driven by passionate volunteers, ChaPivari champions access to culture for all in rural areas, in a festive and friendly atmosphere.
Since 2005, the ChaRivari association has been organizing the ChaPivari festival in Landos, a small village in Haute-Loire nestled on the Devès plateau, at over 1,000 meters altitude. This festival of contemporary music and multiple arts was born from the desire to bring culture to rural areas and offer quality shows accessible to everyone.
The originality of ChaPivari lies in its unique format: for two days, a circus tent is set up on the gymnasium's esplanade in Landos, hosting a rich and eclectic program. The evenings are dedicated to contemporary music concerts, featuring rock, reggae, world music, and electronic music groups. Between stage changes, the audience can discover circus shows, theater, puppetry, and cinema screenings.
On Saturday afternoons, ChaPivari opens its doors for free with various shows: circus, puppetry, street theater, and activities for all ages. This free daytime program reflects the festival's popular and family-oriented mission, aiming to make culture accessible to the widest possible audience.
Entirely run by volunteers, the ChaPivari festival embodies the associative and solidarity spirit that animates the rural territories of Haute-Loire. The ChaRivari association, founded by music and performing arts enthusiasts, works throughout the year to prepare this unifying event. Over the years, ChaPivari has hosted bands like Hilight Tribe, Les Fils de Teuhpu, N&SK, Sentinel, and Les Furles du Pays, in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
Landos, located on the volcanic Devès plateau between Le Puy-en-Velay and Langogne, offers a remarkable natural setting for hosting a festival. The village, crossed by the paths of Saint-Jacques-de-Compostelle, is surrounded by landscapes of moors, pine forests, and volcanic peaks. The gymnasium's esplanade, transformed for a weekend into a big top performance space, becomes the beating heart of local cultural life.
