The family performing arts festival in rural Meuse
The ChiFouMi Festival was born from the desire of the association La Roulette Rustre to offer a quality cultural event in a rural area, accessible to all and supported by the local inhabitants. Initiated in Jouy-sous-les-Côtes, the festival has also taken place in other towns in the Meuse region, such as Chevillon, demonstrating its ability to adapt and spread throughout the territory.
The festival takes place over three days in July, offering a rich and varied multidisciplinary program. Theater, music, circus, dance, street performances, and artistic performances follow one another in outdoor spaces and unusual village locations, creating an immersive artistic journey for spectators.
One of the ChiFouMi Festival's specialties is its particular attention to the younger audience. Performances specifically designed for children and families are presented alongside artistic offerings for adults, making the festival a truly intergenerational event. Each edition explores an original thematic universe that unifies the entire program.
The ChiFouMi Festival is based on a deeply participatory approach. An open stage welcomes amateur artists who wish to perform for the festival audience. The call for volunteers is an essential component of the event: before and during the festival, local residents are invited to participate in the organization, thus creating a true collective project.
The association La Roulette Rustre has been supporting the festival since its origins. Its commitment to performing arts in rural areas and cultural accessibility for all translates into a generous, inventive, and deeply rooted event in its territory.
By investing in the villages of the Meuse region, the ChiFouMi Festival contributes to the cultural vitality of rural areas. The festival transforms the squares, streets, and natural spaces of the host towns into ephemeral performance venues, offering a fresh perspective on local heritage and creating shared memories between artists and spectators.
The 2026 edition of the ChiFouMi Festival takes place from Friday, July 24 to Sunday, July 26, 2026, at Place de l'Ariet in Chevillon (52170), in an itinerant form characteristic of this family festival of live performances in a rural setting. Three days of multidisciplinary programming (shows, street arts, entertainment), with Friday partly reserved for leisure centers and registered groups, and an opening to the general public on Friday evening from 5:30 PM, then throughout the weekend. Admission is free.
Organized by the association La Roulette Rustre / L'Art ou l'Être, the ChiFouMi Festival maintains its identity as a family and participatory event for 2026: children's village, open stage for amateur artists, sound garden and installations, entertainment and live performances spread across the Place de l'Ariet site. Catering is provided by local associations and food trucks (barbecue, fries, crepes, pizzas, burgers, tacos, ice cream), with payment in cash or by card. The details of the artistic program (companies, schedules) had not yet been published at the time of our editorial verification (May 2026).
