2026 Edition: September 30th to October 4th

Ciné32 is hosting the 29th edition of Indépendance(s) et Création from Wednesday, September 30th to Sunday, October 4th, 2026, in Auch and throughout the Ciné32 cinema network in the Gers. The concept remains unchanged since 1998: around fifty art-house feature films shown as previews, with no competition or awards, and post-screening Q&A sessions with the filmmakers.

Ticketing Schedule

Accreditations and passes will be available for purchase online from August 25th to September 25th, 2026, via the festival's ticketing partner, Festik. The list of selected films will be published on Friday, September 11th, and the screening schedule on Monday, September 21st, the day of the press conference at Ciné32. Accreditation holders can then build their personal "film itinerary" online from September 22nd to 25th: a maximum of 4 pre-booked screenings per day, with a total of 5 screenings per day (the fifth ticket must be obtained at the box office). All accreditations are non-transferable. On-site ticketing opens on Wednesday, September 30th at 2:00 PM, coinciding with the collection of ticket packets and festival wristbands.

What has not been announced yet

As of mid-August 2026, neither the film selection nor the guest list has been announced, and the official poster for this edition is not yet online. The festival website currently still points to the 2025 films, which you can catch in theaters in the meantime.

A festival of previews since 1998

Indépendance(s) et Création was founded in 1998 by Alain Bouffartigue and Daniel Toscan du Plantier. Each edition showcases around fifty art-house feature films in preview, sourced from all over the world: debut films, new works by leading filmmakers, fiction, documentaries, and animation. The festival features no competition and awards no prizes.

Meet the filmmakers

All films are introduced by the Ciné32 team, and over twenty encounters with filmmakers or film crews are scheduled for each edition. Devoted cinephiles, casual moviegoers, high school students, and film industry professionals—producers, distributors, and art-house theater operators—all mingle here, often to prepare for the films' public releases.

In the cinemas of the Gers

Ciné32 is also a network of 16 independent art-house cinemas located in the small towns and villages of the Gers department. During the festival, several of these venues host "star screenings" (séances en étoile), which are free for all spectators and attended by the film crews. In the months that follow, tours bring some of these films back to local screens upon their general release. The festival attracts nearly 16,000 admissions.

A largely volunteer-run organization

The team includes over 40 employees and 140 volunteers, divided by mission: welcoming festival-goers, ticket checking, CinéBistrot, token sales, guest chauffeurs, school group hosting, site setup, catering, the "green brigade," and photo reporting. Around 300 high school and university students attend each year, joined by about forty young ambassadors aged 18 to 25, who are tasked with championing a "favorite" film when it is released in their local cinema.
