Ciné des Villes, Ciné des Champs is a unique film festival that takes place every year on the last weekend of October at the Cinéma Claude Miller, housed in a 15th-century castle in the heart of Bourganeuf. Founded in 2011 by the Association Lavaud Soubranne, this festival has become a must-attend event for cinephiles in Creuse and beyond, offering a demanding yet accessible program in a remarkable heritage setting.

Previews and meetings with artists

The festival's program includes previews, heritage films, recent films, and documentaries, often selected at major international festivals like Cannes. Each screening is followed by audience Q&A sessions, with directors, producers, or actors present. Since its inception, the festival has hosted French cinema personalities such as Jean-Pierre Améris, Audrey Tautou, Julie Depardieu, Ludivine Sagnier, James Thierrée, and Jean-Paul Rappeneau.

An engaged cinema festival in a rural setting

As the only cinema festival in Creuse, Ciné des Villes, Ciné des Champs is driven by the conviction that auteur cinema and cultural encounters have a rightful place in rural areas. Despite cuts in public funding, the festival persists and continues to screen about fifteen films per edition, attracting over 800 bookings and a loyal audience from across the department and beyond. The 2025 edition was held under the theme of "tenderness despite everything," featuring 14 films, including 8 previews.
