Comboros: The Confluence of Traditional Music and Dances

The Comboros festival takes its name from an ancient Gaulish term that gave rise to "Combrailles" and means "confluence". True to this etymology, the festival brings together music and cultures from the Massif Central, other regions of France, Europe, and beyond every summer in Saint-Gervais-d'Auvergne. Organized by the association Les Brayauds-CDMDT63 (Departmental Center for Traditional Music and Dances of Puy-de-Dôme), Comboros is a benchmark event for lovers of traditional music.

A Rich and Varied Program

For four days, the festival offers a dense and eclectic program:

  • Amplified and acoustic concerts: groups from all over France and Europe perform in the halls, streets, churches, cafes, and gardens of Saint-Gervais-d'Auvergne
  • Grand balls: traditional balls led by renowned musicians, open to all dancers
  • Workshops: traditional music and dance courses for beginners and experienced participants
  • Shows: productions for adults and families, mixing music, dance, and theater
  • Lutery fair: exhibition and discovery of traditional instruments (hurdy-gurdies, bagpipes, accordions, violins...)

A Popular and Friendly Festival

Comboros is distinguished by its friendly and popular atmosphere. Beyond the musical program, the festival offers mixed sports tournaments (football, table tennis, pétanque), games, a bar and catering area with food trucks and local products. The atmosphere is that of a large village festival, where festival-goers, families, musicians, and dancers of all levels mingle.

Strong Territorial Roots

Located in Saint-Gervais-d'Auvergne, in the heart of the Combrailles, the festival contributes to the cultural vitality of this rural area of Puy-de-Dôme. The Les Brayauds association, founded in 1980 and recognized as a Departmental Center for Traditional Music and Dances since 1997, carries this event with the help of numerous volunteers. The festival campsite, located 500m from the village (suggested free participation of €7), reinforces the friendly and immersive dimension of the experience.
