COMETT, cinema closest to the territories

The COMETT Film Festival was born in 2019 as the physical extension of the educational platform COMETT (Short Films and Territories), created by the Lot-et-Garonne Film Office (BAT47) in partnership with the Ligue de l'Enseignement 47. This traveling festival claims a strong link with the cinemas in the territories, these privileged places for meetings, exchanges, and discoveries.

A traveling festival in the cinemas of Lot-et-Garonne

Each year, the COMETT Film Festival takes over about ten cinemas across the department: Les Montreurs d'Images in Agen, Le Confluent in Aiguillon, L'Odyssée in Casteljaloux, Ciné 4 in Castillonnès, Le Plaza in Marmande, Le Liberty in Monsempron-Libos, Le Margot in Nérac, L'Utopie in Sainte-Livrade-sur-Lot, and Le Rex in Tonneins. The festival also extends to partner cinemas in Gironde and Landes.

Short films and cinematic encounters

The festival's program highlights a selection of short films primarily shot in Nouvelle-Aquitaine, chosen for their cinematic qualities by a committee of teachers and image education professionals. Each edition explores a specific theme through screenings, feature film previews, youth sessions, and discovery sessions such as audio description.

Enriching encounters and workshops

Beyond screenings, the COMETT Film Festival offers a rich program of activities and encounters: masterclasses with filmmakers, conferences on cinematic creation, sound design and Foley art workshops open to everyone aged 8 and up, themed afterworks, and exchanges with directors, actors, and technicians. Screenings are systematically accompanied by the film crews.

Commitment to film education

Rooted in an approach to image and film education, the festival is aimed at both the general public and education professionals. The COMETT platform offers a selection of regional short films throughout the year, accompanied by educational content: film analyses, director interviews, and filming documents, freely accessible to teachers and cinema mediators.
