A festival born in 2006
The Courant d'Art festival was established in 2006 by Father Bertrand Laurent and the Art et Culture association of the Rouen diocese. Each year, around the Easter season, it opens the doors of various religious buildings in Rouen to contemporary artists.
A dialogue between contemporary art and places of worship
The concept has remained the same since the beginning: artists take over a religious space for the duration of the festival, and their works—including paintings, sculptures, and photography—engage in a dialogue with the site's sacred heritage. The festival aims to promote contemporary creation while highlighting the artistic heritage of the diocese.
A traveling event
Exhibition venues change from one edition to the next among the religious buildings of the Rouen diocese, including abbeys, the cathedral, chapels, and parish churches. In 2026, the 21st edition will take place at the Abbatiale Saint-Ouen, the Cathédrale Notre-Dame, and the Chapelle Sainte-Catherine in Rouen's city center.
Free admission
