The festival of urban and electronic cultures in Nice
Born in 2008 in Nice, Crossover Festival has become over fifteen editions the unmissable event for urban cultures on the French Riviera. Every September, it takes over the Théâtre de Verdure and Le 109 for evenings mixing rap, electronic music, and pop in a festive and urban atmosphere. The festival explores the crossovers between musical genres and showcases emerging artists and confirmed headliners, from the former industrial sites of its beginnings to the emblematic stages of Nice's city center.
Crossover Festival was born in 2008 on the French Riviera, in atypical and offbeat locations: the former slaughterhouses of Nice, the Colline du Château, and the Villa Arson. From its very first editions, the festival has asserted a strong identity: that of an event dedicated to the crossover of musical cultures, exploring the bridges between rap, electronic music, pop, bass music, and urban cultures. This pioneering approach on the Côte d'Azur earned it growing recognition and a loyal audience.
After occupying many unusual venues, Crossover Festival settled at the Théâtre de Verdure, located in the heart of Nice, a short walk from the Promenade des Anglais, for its main evenings. The festival also extends to Le 109, a center for contemporary cultures housed in a former industrial building in the Digue des Français district, which hosts multi-stage evenings with a more experimental program. This dual location reflects the spirit of the festival: combining accessibility and avant-garde.
The 2024 edition, which celebrated the festival's 15th anniversary, took place from September 4 to 8. The Théâtre de Verdure hosted the evenings of September 4 and 5, dedicated to rap and electro, with I Hate Models, Acid Arab, La Fève, Vladimir Cauchemar, Zamdane, Favé, and BU$HI. Le 109 took over on September 7 and 8 for a three-stage festival including a free evening, with Oden & Fatzo, Yuksek, Violet Indigo, and Bande de Filles.
The 16th edition of Crossover Festival innovated with a two-act format: a first event from May 2 to 4, 2025, followed by the main festival from September 5 to 7, 2025. The September program highlighted Jyeuhair and his hybrid sounds on Friday the 5th, alongside L2B, the collectives Amapiano, DJ Nuts, Episode, and Reia Crew. Saturday the 6th, dominated by rap, hosted 1PLIKÉ140, a figure of French drill, and H JeuneCrack, confirming the festival's place as a laboratory for urban music on the Côte d'Azur.
Defining itself as an "experience creator", Crossover Festival goes beyond simple concerts to offer a global immersion in contemporary urban cultures. Workshops, visual installations, screenings, and meetings complement the musical program. The festival has successfully built a loyal young and connected audience while also opening up to broader audiences through its free evenings and accessible programming.
