About Culture Bar-Bars
The Culture Bar-Bars Festival is organized in Toulouse by the Collectif Culture Bar-Bars (CCBB), a national federation of independent music cafes, cultural cafes, and clubs. Born in 2003 on the initiative of the Collectif's Nantes federation, the festival has become the second largest national cultural event after the Fête de la Musique, and annually celebrates the artistic diversity fostered by small cultural venues.
In Toulouse, the Collectif Culture Bar-Bars organizes several events throughout the year: Constellations Bar-Bars in spring, an Odyssée Bar-Bars in partnership with the Rio Loco festival, and participates in the big national weekend at the end of November. The Toulouse program is spread across about ten member cultural cafes, from the city center to Pinsaguel.
The Culture Bar-Bars Festival in Toulouse
The Culture Bar-Bars Festival is a cultural event organized by the Collectif Culture Bar-Bars (CCBB), a national federation created in 1999 in Nantes by a dozen managers of alternative cultural venues. In Toulouse, it is the regional federation Toulouse Occitanie, based at the Breughel l'Ancien cafe (30 rue de la Chaîne), that has been coordinating the local version of the festival for several years.
Several events throughout the year in Toulouse
The Collectif's Toulouse program is no longer limited to just the national weekend in November. Three highlights now punctuate the year:
- Constellations Bar-Bars in spring (2026 edition from June 4 to 6) — a festive weekend in member cultural cafes, with a multidisciplinary program (music, stand-up, exhibitions, drag, dance).
- Odyssée Bar-Bars, in partnership with the Rio Loco festival of Toulouse Métropole: an off-program deployed from April to June in about ten cultural cafes in Toulouse and Pinsaguel, alongside the major world music festival at the Prairie des Filtres.
- The national Culture Bar-Bars festival in November, the last weekend of the month, which annually brings together more than 70 cities, 230 venues, and 3,000 artists across France.
A network of Toulouse cultural cafes
The Toulouse members of the Collectif are about ten independent bars, cafes, and small venues — including Breughel l'Ancien, Flashback Café, Boudu Pont, Le Taquin, L'Engrenage, Le Bijou, Café Ginette, Betty Pop's, Bear's House, Maison Blanche, L'Astronef, L'Autruche, Delicatessen, and Evasion. These venues regularly feature local scene programming, regional emerging artists, and live shows with free or affordable access.
Spirit of the festival
Culture Bar-Bars advocates for accessible, independent, and local culture. Most events take place in intimate bar-concert venues, with significant space given to emerging artists and the local Toulouse scene. Bar consumption remains the primary source of funding for these venues, which play an essential role in the city's nightlife and cultural life.

2026 edition of the Culture Bar-Bars Festival in Toulouse: from June 4 to 6, 2026, the Collectif Culture Bar-Bars Toulouse Occitanie presents its spring event Constellations Bar-Bars in about ten cultural cafés in the city. Three evenings of concerts, stand-up, exhibitions, drag, dance — the artistic diversity of Toulouse's small independent venues gathered for a festive weekend.
Constellations Bar-Bars 2026 — Spring Edition in Toulouse
For its 2026 spring event, the Collectif Culture Bar-Bars Toulouse Occitanie will take over the city's cultural cafés, concert cafés, and independent clubs from June 4 to 6, 2026. It's an opportunity to discover, in intimate settings and often with free admission, a rich artistic program presented by the Collective's Toulouse members.
A Multidisciplinary Program
As with every edition, Constellations Bar-Bars offers a multitude of artistic expressions: music (rock, electro, jazz, French song, hip-hop, world…), stand-up, exhibitions, drag shows, dance, and performances. Each participating venue creates its own program, in line with what it champions throughout the year.
Participating Cultural Cafés
Among the venues expected to join the 2026 edition are: Breughel l'Ancien, Flashback Café, Boudu Pont, Le Taquin, L'Engrenage, Le Bijou, Café Ginette, Betty Pop's, Bear's House, Maison Blanche, L'Astronef, L'Autruche, Delicatessen, Evasion. The complete program, day by day and venue by venue, will be published by the Collectif Culture Bar-Bars in the weeks leading up to the event.
What's Next? Odyssée Bar-Bars and National Festival
Constellations Bar-Bars is just one of the year's events in Toulouse. The Odyssée Bar-Bars extends the dynamic in partnership with the Rio Loco festival (world music) at the Prairie des Filtres, with an off-program in cultural cafés until June 20. The major national Culture Bar-Bars festival will then take place at the end of November 2026 in over 70 cities across France.
