Debrief Festival: The Showcase for Emerging Contemporary Music in Île-de-France
The Debrief Festival was born from a shared vision among three major players in the contemporary music scene of Île-de-France: RIF (Réseau des musiques actuelles en Île-de-France), MAAD 93, and COMBO 95. Together, these organizations imagined a unifying event capable of giving visibility to emerging artists supported by their members, while also creating a space for meeting and exchange for industry professionals.
A Unique Format: Showcases + Seminars
The uniqueness of Debrief Festival lies in its dual format. Each edition unfolds over two to three days, combining free showcase evenings at the Hangar in Ivry-sur-Seine with professional seminar days at Espace Robespierre. The showcases offer artists selected by the programming committee a professional stage in front of a mixed audience (general public and professionals). The seminars address current themes in the music industry: musical aesthetics, artist well-being, the role of artists within networks, economic models, diversity, and inclusion.
A Representative Artistic Selection
The artists at Debrief Festival are chosen by a programming committee representing the diversity of territories and aesthetics in Île-de-France. The #2 edition (January 2025) highlighted Egide (electro-pop), Milla Leika (electro-pop), Shaker Poisson (rock), Nuit Noire (chanson-électro), Hier (nu-soul), and Morjane Ténéré (folk). The #6 edition (January 2026), which brought together 306 participants, featured Spoink, At Mos, Sainte Nicole (Monday, January 26th), Parallyx, Juicy P, and Les Inséparables Piou-Piou (Tuesday, January 27th), in free evenings accessible to all.
Le Hangar: Stage for Musical Renewal in Ivry
The festival is rooted at Le Hangar in Ivry-sur-Seine, a 300-seat concert venue located at 3/5 rue Raspail, managed by the city of Ivry. This human-scale venue is ideal for discovery showcases: the proximity between artists and the audience creates an atmosphere of attentive listening and professional conviviality. Accessible via metro line 7 (Mairie d'Ivry) and RER C, Le Hangar has become a reference point for contemporary music in the Val-de-Marne region over the years.
A Free Event Open to All
Debrief Festival is entirely free and open to all audiences. This accessibility is a fundamental value for the organizers, who want the showcase evenings not to be events reserved for professionals but musical celebrations open to the curious, lovers of new discoveries, and residents of Ivry and the Val-de-Marne. The daytime seminars, however, are reserved for RIF members and its industry partners.
