About Décodage Festival
Décodage is a traveling media literacy festival organized annually by the European Collectivity of Alsace and the Bibliothèque d'Alsace. Since its launch in 2022, it has spent several weeks each year touring the region's libraries and media centers, focusing on a fresh theme every time. Through talks, workshops, exhibitions, screenings, and performances, the festival explores how information and images are created. Each library in the Alsatian network develops its own unique take on the year's central theme.
Décodage Festival — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of Décodage takes place from October 17th to November 14th across libraries and media centers in Alsace. At the Espace Liberté media center in Ensisheim, the event features a stop-motion animation workshop and a journalistic investigation project.
For the 2026 edition, the Espace Liberté media center in Ensisheim is hosting two key events focused on image creation and information: a stop-motion animation workshop and a journalistic investigation workshop. Meanwhile, each library within the Alsatian network is organizing its own unique version of the festival.

- October 28, October 31, and November 4, 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM — Stop-motion workshop "Image Creation": children aged 8-12 bring Mortelle Adèle characters to life frame by frame (groups of 6, registration required at 03 89 26 49 22)
- November 21 — Journalistic investigation workshop "The Disappearance of the Meteorite," held at the Musée de la Régence
Every library in the Alsatian network is offering its own program for the festival, featuring various lectures, exhibitions, and screenings.

A festival born in 2022
Décodage is an initiative by the European Collectivity of Alsace, in partnership with the Bibliothèque d'Alsace. The inaugural edition, held from November 9 to 27, 2022, featured over forty events centered on the theme "Humanity, its future, and its limits." Subsequent editions have explored their own specific topics: "Sports and Media: The Flip Side of the Coin" in 2023, followed by "The Power of Images" in 2024.
Programming built library by library
The festival has no single home base; instead, every library or media center in the Alsatian network hosts its own workshops, exhibitions, and meet-ups based on the annual theme. All activities are free and open to both children and adults.
