About Vélotour
Vélotour — edition 2026
The Dijon Vélotour celebrates its 20th anniversary on Sunday, September 13, 2026. Starting and finishing at the Parc du Château de Pouilly, north of Dijon, the 15 to 25 km loop offers access to about ten sites usually closed to cyclists: La Vapeur, the Dijon North fire station, IKEA, the Exhibition Centre, the Departmental Gardens, and the Food Bank have already been announced. Choose from four start slots between 8:00 AM and 12:00 PM, or opt for the Flex Ticket. As of mid-August, organizers report that tickets are running low and the 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM slot is nearly full.
2026 Edition
Vélotour was born in Dijon in 2006 and will celebrate its 20th anniversary there on Sunday, September 13, 2026. Organizers are expecting around 5,000 participants.
A Village at the Château de Pouilly
The start and finish village is moving from the Parc de la Colombière to the Parc du Château de Pouilly, north of Dijon. The route covers 15 to 25 km and passes through about ten sites opened for the day, featuring a main loop and an additional loop for those who want to ride further.
Six Locations Announced
The full route has not yet been unveiled, but confirmed sites include: La Vapeur and its backstage area, the Dijon North fire station, the IKEA store, the Dijon Exhibition and Convention Centre, the Côte-d'Or Departmental Gardens, and the Food Bank.
No Timing, No Rankings
Vélotour is not a race. Simply start during your reserved time slot and ride at your own pace—it usually takes between 2 and 4 hours. Costumes are a tradition! All types of bikes are welcome, and you should bring your own; detours are provided for any narrow sections at certain locations.

A concept born in Dijon in 2006
Vélotour is an urban cycling tour created in Dijon in 2006 by three local students. The concept: ride through the city while accessing unique locations that are usually closed to the public or off-limits to cyclists.
An unusual route through the city
The Dijon route covers 15 to 25 km and passes through about ten exceptional sites, including museums, concert halls, stadiums, administrative buildings, businesses, and parks. The route changes every year, as do the start and finish villages: Parc de la Colombière in 2025, and Parc du Château de Pouilly in 2026.
No timers, no rankings
Vélotour is not a race. Participants, often in costume, ride at their own pace with family or friends. The start and finish village features entertainment, music, and food areas.
A national success
The concept has spread to thirteen other French cities: Toulouse, Tours, Orléans, Colmar, Sauternes, Bourges, Reims, Paris Nord, Chambéry, Saint-Émilion, Nantes, Grenoble, and Valenciennes. Since 2006, over 360,000 participants have taken part in a Vélotour, cycling through more than 750 unusual locations.
