A traveling festival blending old sails, concerts, and musical navigation
Born in 2024, the festival Du Son dans les Voiles is an original creation that pushes the boundaries of traditional concerts. This collaborative project brings together a passion for old sailing ships, live music, and navigation to offer a unique festival experience in the English Channel. The public is invited to board — literally — for a journey where sound mingles with the wind and sails.
The festival unfolds over several days and across several ports on the Manche coast. Since its first edition, it has made stops in Carentan-les-Marais and Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue, two emblematic ports of the Cotentin and Bessin regions. The Carentan marina, located in the heart of the Cotentin Marshes, offers an exceptional natural setting to host concerts and activities.
The program blends various musical styles: baroque trance percussion by Rebecca Roger Cruz, intergalactic brass band by Grand Tabazù, electro-psychedelia by Chamaye, and raw, poetic instrument making by Antonin Leymarie. DJ sets and sound creations complete the artistic offering, in a spirit of openness and discovery.
Beyond the concerts, Du Son dans les Voiles offers participatory workshops accessible to families: singing, dancing, kayaking, coin striking, woodworking, and of course, sailing on the old ships. These activities allow the public to immerse themselves in the maritime and artisanal world of the festival.
The festival is driven by Airfono, a show producer and music label recently established on the Manche coast, in collaboration with L'Union Nautique en Bessin and the association Dreknor, specializing in the preservation and sailing of old ships. This original partnership between cultural and maritime players makes Du Son dans les Voiles a unique event in the Norman festival landscape.
Du Son dans les Voiles returns in 2026 for a new maritime and musical adventure between the ports of Cotentin and Bessin. The program will be unveiled on the festival's social media channels.
