The major sound system culture event in Europe in Joué-sur-Erdre
Dub Camp Festival is the first open-air festival in Europe entirely dedicated to sound system culture. Organized by the association Get Up! on the shores of Lake Vioreau in Joué-sur-Erdre, near Nantes, this event brings together the best French and international sound systems for three days each year in the purest Jamaican tradition. Since its creation in 2014, the festival has become an unmissable reference for reggae and dub in Europe, welcoming over 50 crews from France, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, England, Sweden, and beyond. Driven by passionate volunteers, Dub Camp offers a unique immersive experience to the rhythm of Jamaican skank, in an exceptional natural setting by the lake.
Created in 2014 by the association Get Up!, after more than fifteen years of activism for reggae culture in Nantes and its region, Dub Camp Festival has established itself as Europe's premier open-air festival entirely dedicated to the sound system movement. Located on the shores of Lake Vioreau in Joué-sur-Erdre, in Loire-Atlantique, the festival offers a total immersion into the authentic world of reggae and dub scenes, true to Jamaican tradition.
For three days, Dub Camp Festival makes its tents vibrate to the sound of the best French and international sound systems. The rich and eclectic program represents all currents and styles from reggae/dub culture and the sound system movement: roots, dub, steppers, digital, dancehall, and many others. Each year, over 50 crews perform on site, coming from France, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, England, Sweden, and other European countries. Among the artists and sound systems that have marked previous editions: Channel One, Iration Steppas, Dubkasm, O.B.F, Blackboard Jungle, ManuDigital, Hempress Sativa, Paolo Baldini DubFiles, Big Red, Weeding Dub, Stand High Patrol, and Skarra Mucci.
Dub Camp Festival is a 100% independent event, driven by the Get Up! association and animated by nearly 900 passionate volunteers. The festival champions strong values of ecological responsibility, conscious consumption, and human commitment. In 2024, the organizers voluntarily reduced the capacity from 35,000 to 25,000 festival-goers to offer a more qualitative and environmentally friendly experience, while preserving the community spirit that has been the soul of the festival since its inception.
The festival site, by the Lake Vioreau, offers a preserved natural haven ideal for hosting this event. Camping and parking are free and included in the ticket price (excluding the paid Zen Camp). Entry is free for children under 12 and people over 75. Under the motto "All Tribes are Welcome!", Dub Camp Festival is a gathering place open to everyone, true to the spirit of sharing and fraternity that characterizes sound system culture.
