A lively summer by the Moselle in the medieval city
The Estivales de Liverdun are a summer entertainment program organized by the City of Liverdun, a medieval city perched above a loop of the Moselle River. From June to the end of August, the program offers open-air concerts, artisan and producer markets (Halle markets), national holiday celebrations with fireworks, the Festival of Fireflies, children's shows, fishing and rowing introductions, guided tours of the old town, and musical and poetic breaks at the washhouse. A family-friendly, free, and convivial program in the heart of an exceptional heritage setting.
The Estivales de Liverdun are the summer event of this small town of character nestled above a picturesque loop of the Moselle, a few kilometers north of Nancy. From June to the end of August, the town comes alive with a cultural, family, and festive program that takes advantage of its exceptional heritage setting: medieval ramparts, cobbled streets, fortified church, and panoramas of the Moselle valley.
Every last Friday of the month in summer, a free open-air concert livens up the town: French chanson, folk-rock, contemporary music... The genres vary from one evening to another to satisfy all tastes. The Halle markets, a recent innovation, are held on the first Saturday of each month from 10 am to 2 pm, bringing together artisans, local producers, and artistic entertainment under the historic market hall.
Children's shows are offered regularly: inflatable structures, a miniature train, a carousel, and creative workshops complete the offerings for families.
The highlights of the Estivales are the National Day celebration and the Festival of Fireflies. On July 13th, a dance evening with a DJ and children's games precedes a fireworks display launched from the heights of the city, offering a pyrotechnic show reflected in the waters of the Moselle. The Festival of Fireflies, in August, offers an enchanted evening with lanterns distributed to participants, creating a magical atmosphere in the illuminated medieval streets.
The Estivales also offer fishing introductions on the banks of the Moselle, rowing sessions every weekend until September, and guided tours of the old town. Musical and poetic breaks at the washhouse offer moments of contemplation and culture in a place steeped in history.
