International festival of living and gourmet poetry in Périgueux
Expoésie is the international festival of art and poetry in Périgueux, organized by the association Féroce Marquise. Since 2002, every March, poetry escapes its paper cocoon to invade the streets, squares, media libraries, bookstores, galleries, and museums of the capital of Périgord. Performance readings, poetic strolls, independent publishers' fair, plastic and poetic art exhibitions: all events are free and open to all.
Since 2002, the Expoésie festival has transformed Périgueux into the capital of poetry for two weeks in March. Organized by the association Féroce Marquise, this unique event in Dordogne brings poetry out of books and into the public space, in contact with as many people as possible.
The festival offers a rich and varied program: performance readings, poetic strolls through the streets of Périgueux, an independent publishers' fair, plastic and poetic art exhibitions, writing workshops, and meetings with poets from around the world. Poetry blends delightfully with other arts—music, dance, visual arts—and becomes gourmet by associating with the flavors of the Périgord region.
The events unfold in numerous locations throughout the city: the Musée d'Art et d'Archéologie du Périgord (MAAP), media libraries, bookstores, art galleries, schools, as well as the squares and streets of the historic center. This dissemination throughout the urban space is at the heart of the festival's identity, which aims to make poetry accessible and alive.
True to its values of cultural democratization, Expoésie offers all its events free of charge and open access. The festival hosts renowned national and international poets each year, as well as emerging creators, in a spirit of sharing and discovery.
The 25th edition of the Expoésie festival will be held from March 10 to 21, 2026, in Périgueux. A quarter-century of living and gourmet poetry celebrated with performance readings, poetic strolls, a publishers' fair, and exhibitions throughout the city.
