Le Broc Terra Legenda
In the 13th century, the knight Bertrand du Broc established his lordship along a military defense line overlooking the Allier river. Today, Le Broc is recognized as one of the "Petites Cités de Caractère," where enthusiasts of history, performance, and heritage have come together to form the Terra Legenda association. The group includes over 60 volunteers dedicated to programming, communications, costume design, set building, and event production. Their mission is clear: to organize events that honor local heritage and culture, attract and engage visitors, promote the village, and maintain a free, popular festival for all.
The Medieval Festival on the Plateau de la Chaux
According to the association, the daytime format of the festival brings together the following attractions on the plateau:
- The Terra Legenda camp, featuring medieval tents, artisans, and an animal enclosure (horses, goats, donkeys)
- The Maisnie du Montferrand camp, with tents and workshops open to visitors
- The Archers de la Nuit camp, offering archery lessons
- A medieval market with around fifteen artisans and a traditional trades area, including a blacksmith, stonemason, and hauberk maker
- The tavern, plus a medieval takeaway dinner available by reservation from 7:00 PM
- Music and dance performances by the Vire et Volte company, along with medieval tales and Auvergne legends
- A falconry show by the Les Ailes de Rochebaron company
- A children's play area with games like tin can alley, tug-of-war, sack races, and face painting
- A nighttime historical show featuring dance, combat, stunts, pyrotechnics, and equestrian scenes centered on the epic of Dauphine du Broc
