Contemporary music festival in rural Normandy
Festival Art Sonic is an unmissable event for contemporary music in Normandy, organized every summer in Briouze in the Orne region. Since 1997, this festival, driven by the Art Sonic association, has mixed rock, electro, hip-hop, French chanson, and world music on several outdoor stages. A true cultural player in rural areas, Art Sonic attracts over 22,000 festival-goers each year and features around thirty national and international artists in a friendly and festive atmosphere, in the heart of the Norman bocage.
Created in 1997, the Festival Art Sonic has established itself as one of the major cultural events in Normandy and the Orne department. Driven by the eponymous association, this contemporary music festival takes over the town of Briouze every summer, transforming this small commune in the Orne bocage into a true musical capital for a weekend.
Art Sonic stands out for the richness and diversity of its programming, mixing rock, electro, hip-hop, French chanson, reggae, and world music. The festival hosts both national and international headliners as well as emerging artists, offering a complete panorama of the contemporary music scene. The 2026 edition notably promises the appearance of Niska, Matmatah, and Adèle Castillon among about thirty artists scheduled over two days.
The festival site has several stages allowing for a mix of major concerts and more intimate discoveries. The main stage hosts the headliners, while the secondary stages highlight emerging talents and local artists, creating continuous programming from early afternoon until the early morning.
Since its inception, Art Sonic has embodied a militant commitment to access to culture in rural areas. The association, based in Briouze, works throughout the year for the cultural development of the territory through outreach activities, concerts outside the festival, and support for local artistic practices. The festival has become a vector of attractiveness and dynamism for the Norman bocage.
With over 22,500 festival-goers during its 29th edition in 2025, Art Sonic confirms its status as a popular and friendly festival. The outdoor site, the food areas offering local products, on-site camping, and the warm atmosphere between the stages make each edition a moment of sharing and celebration. The festival also strives to offer affordable prices to allow as many people as possible to enjoy the program.
The festival makes it a point of honor to welcome all audiences in the best conditions. Facilities are provided for people with reduced mobility, and dedicated family areas allow everyone to fully enjoy the event. Free parking is available near the site.
The 30th edition of the Festival Art Sonic will take place on July 24th and 25th, 2026, in Briouze. For this anniversary, the festival will feature Niska, Matmatah, and Adèle Castillon, among about thirty artists over two days of outdoor contemporary music.
