Cinema and painting in the heart of Collioure
Since 2013, the Marcel Oms cine-club has organized the Art & Toiles festival at the Le Mondial cinema in Collioure, creating a unique meeting point at the crossroads of the seventh art and the visual arts. In the "Painters' City", the cradle of Fauvism and a land of inspiration for Matisse, Derain, and many others, this program takes on a special resonance.
The festival mixes fiction films and documentaries exploring the life, work, and universe of painters from all eras and origins. Previous editions have featured artists such as Kim Tschang-yeul, Gabrièle Münter, Nicolas de Staël, and Giacometti, offering the public a rich and varied cinematic perspective on the world of painting.
Beyond the screenings, the festival offers discussions with art lecturers and specialists, book signings in partnership with the Oxymore bookstore, and convivial moments that enrich this intimate event. Speakers come to shed light on the projected works and share their expertise.
Since 2025, the Marcel Oms cine-club also offers an autumn edition of the Art & Toiles festival, this time dedicated to music in cinema, broadening the event's thematic scope.
The 13th edition of the Art & Toiles festival will be held on April 26, 27 and 28, 2026 at the Le Mondial cinema in Collioure. Organized by the Marcel Oms film club, this spring edition once again celebrates painting in cinema, through an eclectic program of fiction films and documentaries dedicated to great painters.
