Festival blending living arts and science to celebrate life at the Caves Ecoiffier d'Alénya
The Festival Bioviv'Art is a unique event in the Pyrénées-Orientales. Born from the desire to create a bridge between living arts and science, this festival takes over the Caves Ecoiffier in Alénya — a former wine estate converted into a cultural space — every late July for three days of performances, conferences, workshops, and exhibitions focused on life and biodiversity.
The festival offers a rich and accessible program for everyone, from 3 years old. Theater, dance, and music performances are alongside scientific conferences on ecology, biodiversity, and environmental issues. Nature workshops — plant painting, plant identification, insect observation — allow young and old to reconnect with the living world. Exhibitions by committed artists and documentary screenings complete the program.
Founded by Mickaëlle Bensoussan, who has lived in the Pyrénées-Orientales for over 30 years, the Bioviv'Art association carries a strong message: "Living arts for life." The festival questions our lifestyles, our relationship with nature, and our responsibility towards biodiversity, using the power of art and emotion to raise awareness and inspire action.
The Caves Ecoiffier in Alénya, a former cooperative winery from the early 20th century, offer a unique heritage setting for the festival. Their brick and stone architecture, vast interior spaces, and shaded park are perfectly suited for hosting indoor and outdoor performances, in a friendly and rustic atmosphere typical of the Roussillon plain.
The 5th edition of the Bioviv'Art Festival will be held from July 24 to 26, 2026, at the Caves Ecoiffier in Alénya (Pyrénées-Orientales), on the theme « Seas and Ocean: essential and fragile ». Three days of live arts and science to explore the marine world, including shows, conferences, workshops, and nature walks.
From July 24 to 26, 2026, the Bioviv'Art Festival returns to the Caves Ecoiffier in Alénya for its 5th edition, this year dedicated to the seas and the ocean, their richness and their fragility. An arts/science festival created in 2022, Bioviv'Art combines reason and emotion to question our lifestyles and inspire action in favor of living things.
For three days, the public of all ages (from 3 years old) is invited to meetings between scientists, artists, and volunteers: shows (theater, dance, concerts), conferences, screenings, participatory workshops, nature walks, and original hybrid forms blending art and science, centered around marine biodiversity, cetaceans, plastic pollution, and the links between humans and the ocean.
The 2026 edition will notably bring together scientists Gilles Bœuf (biologist, former president of the Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle), Dr Fabienne Delfour (cetacean specialist), Jean-François Ghiglione (ocean plastic pollution), and Florian Kirchner (endangered species).
Committed to the environment, Bioviv'Art has applied eco-responsible practices since its creation: zero single-use plastic, reusable tableware, 100% organic and local products, vegetarian meals, and low-carbon mobility.
