Street arts and music in the villages of Pays de Barr
Created in 2000 in Goxwiller, the Festival Clair de Nuit became in 2021 the Festival Clair de Rue & Clair de Nuit, an event with a dual dimension combining street arts and music in the villages of Pays de Barr, in the heart of the Alsatian vineyards. For three summer evenings, Goxwiller, Barr, Dambach-la-Ville, Nothalten and Andlau vibrate to the rhythm of rock, folk, electro, Balkan sounds and street performances — circus, itinerant theater and poetry. Free, without reservation and open to all, this festival supported by the Tourist and Cultural Office of Pays de Barr celebrates artistic discovery in a friendly atmosphere.
The adventure began in 2000 in Goxwiller, a small wine-growing village at the foot of the Vosges mountains, with the birth of the Festival Clair de Nuit, an event dedicated to concerts under the stars in an intimate and friendly atmosphere. For over twenty years, the festival has brought together a loyal audience each summer for music — rock, folk, electro, Balkan sounds — and poetic performances, in the enchanting setting of the Pays de Barr, in the heart of the Alsace Wine Route.
In 2021, for its 21st edition, the festival took a turn by integrating street arts into its program. Renamed Festival Clair de Rue & Clair de Nuit, it now embraces a dual dimension: Clair de Rue for street shows — circus, itinerant theater, performing arts companies — and Clair de Nuit for contemporary music concerts. This evolution allows the festival to reach a wider audience, from families to music lovers, and to occupy new venues in the villages of Pays de Barr.
The festival unfolds across several towns in the Pays de Barr: Goxwiller, Barr, Dambach-la-Ville, Nothalten, and Andlau. Each village hosts one or more evenings, offering spectators the opportunity to discover heritage sites — village squares, wine cellar courtyards, church parvises — transformed into open-air stages. The landscapes of the Alsatian vineyards, with their rolling hills and half-timbered houses, provide a natural setting that enhances the artistic performances.
Supported since 2024 by the Tourist and Cultural Office of Pays de Barr, the festival is entirely free and without reservation, true to its mission of cultural democratization. The 2026 edition, the 26th of its name, will take place from July 31 to August 2 and promises three evenings of musical discoveries and street performances in the warm atmosphere of the Alsatian vineyards.
26th edition of the Festival Clair de Rue & Clair de Nuit in Pays de Barr, from July 31 to August 2, 2026. Three evenings of free street performances and concerts in Goxwiller and the vineyard villages.
