Festival de la Bergerie: Music and Conviviality in the Heart of the Royal Estate
Every summer, the Bergerie Nationale de Rambouillet opens the doors of its Théâtre de verdure for the Festival de la Bergerie, a series of free aperitif concerts in an exceptional bucolic setting. Located in the Montorgueil garden, within the park of the Château de Rambouillet, this open-air festival combines live music, farm-to-table gastronomy, and historical heritage.
Eclectic Musical Evenings
The festival's program emphasizes musical diversity. Every Thursday evening, a different group or artist takes the stage at the Théâtre de verdure: acoustic jazz, retro rock, world music, French chanson, folk rock, or intimate duos. The 2025 edition notably featured Saint Eldorado (retro covers), Kim & Kouamé (saxophone-voice duo), Lec and the Sixties (rock'n'roll), Le Trio Smooth (acoustic jazz pop), and Carnutes (French folk rock).
Farmhouse Gastronomy and Guinguette Spirit
The festival stands out with its farmhouse catering sourced directly from the Bergerie Nationale's agricultural farm. Tasting platters, sausages, merguez, fries, and pastries accompany the concerts, in a warm guinguette spirit. Drinks—craft beers, wines, and fruit juices—complete this gourmet outdoor experience.
A Unique Heritage Setting
The Bergerie Nationale, founded in 1786 by Louis XVI to house the merino flock gifted by the King of Spain, is an emblematic site of French agricultural heritage. The Montorgueil garden and the Théâtre de verdure offer a preserved natural setting in the heart of the Royal Estate of Rambouillet, a short walk from the château and its canals.
