About Festival de la Bergerie

The Festival de la Bergerie is the summer musical event of the Bergerie Nationale de Rambouillet. Every Thursday in June and the first Thursday in July, the Théâtre de verdure in the Montorgueil garden, nestled in the park of the Château de Rambouillet, hosts free aperitif concerts in a guinguette spirit. From 7 PM to 10 PM, the public enjoys platters of farm products from the Bergerie Nationale's farm, fries, and cold drinks, accompanied by an eclectic musical program mixing jazz, rock, world music, French chanson, and acoustic music. This open-air festival celebrates conviviality, local gastronomy, and live music in an exceptional heritage setting, in the heart of a 250-hectare estate dedicated to agriculture and livestock farming since the 18th century.

Festival de la Bergerie: Music and Conviviality in the Heart of the Royal Estate

Every summer, the Bergerie Nationale de Rambouillet opens the doors of its Théâtre de verdure for the Festival de la Bergerie, a series of free aperitif concerts in an exceptional bucolic setting. Located in the Montorgueil garden, within the park of the Château de Rambouillet, this open-air festival combines live music, farm-to-table gastronomy, and historical heritage.

Eclectic Musical Evenings

The festival's program emphasizes musical diversity. Every Thursday evening, a different group or artist takes the stage at the Théâtre de verdure: acoustic jazz, retro rock, world music, French chanson, folk rock, or intimate duos. The 2025 edition notably featured Saint Eldorado (retro covers), Kim & Kouamé (saxophone-voice duo), Lec and the Sixties (rock'n'roll), Le Trio Smooth (acoustic jazz pop), and Carnutes (French folk rock).

Farmhouse Gastronomy and Guinguette Spirit

The festival stands out with its farmhouse catering sourced directly from the Bergerie Nationale's agricultural farm. Tasting platters, sausages, merguez, fries, and pastries accompany the concerts, in a warm guinguette spirit. Drinks—craft beers, wines, and fruit juices—complete this gourmet outdoor experience.

A Unique Heritage Setting

The Bergerie Nationale, founded in 1786 by Louis XVI to house the merino flock gifted by the King of Spain, is an emblematic site of French agricultural heritage. The Montorgueil garden and the Théâtre de verdure offer a preserved natural setting in the heart of the Royal Estate of Rambouillet, a short walk from the château and its canals.

Festival de la Bergerie — edition 2026

The Festival de la Bergerie 2026 returns to the Théâtre de verdure of the Bergerie nationale de Rambouillet for five open-air aperitif concerts, on Thursdays, June 4, 11, 18, 25 and July 2, 2026. Free entry with mandatory reservation, farm-style catering on site in a guinguette spirit.

2026 Edition — Five Thursdays of Open-Air Music

For its new edition, the Festival de la Bergerie takes over the Jardin Montorgueil of the Bergerie nationale de Rambouillet from June 4 to July 2, 2026, with one aperitif concert every Thursday evening. Five evenings on the program: Thursdays, June 4, 11, 18 and 25, then Thursday, July 2.

An Eclectic Program

The 2026 musical program blends guitar chill, jazz, afro groove, Malian reggae, variety, and vintage rock'n'roll. On the menu: Simon Chenet and his trio (June 4), Elisabeth Salaün in a jazz trio (June 11), Badegna Foli & Sékou Bah (June 18), Saint Eldorado with Yann Destal — former singer of Modjo (June 25) and the Ethelbert Band (July 2).

Guinguette Spirit and Farm-Style Catering

The garden opens at 7 PM, for a concert that starts at 8 PM and continues until 9:30 PM or 10 PM. On site, visitors will find the farm-style catering offer from the Bergerie nationale: sausages, merguez, tasting platters, farm yogurts, fries, pastries, and drinks. Glass containers are prohibited in the garden.

Free Entry but Mandatory Reservation

New for this edition: entry remains free but reservation is now mandatory to better regulate visitor flow. Ticketing is open on Weezevent (link in the listing). Please note, the event remains subject to cancellation in case of bad weather.
