Mountain Festival 2026

The first day, at altitude on the Rocherousse plateau and at the summit of Drouvet, highlights the fauna, flora, and mountain stakeholders (mountain rescue, gendarmerie, thematic walks). The second day takes over the village with an artisan market, demonstrations, and competitions celebrating local produce, before the traditional fireworks display.

A festival celebrating the mountain and its people
Every August 15th and 16th, the resort of Orcières Merlette 1850 hosts the Festival de la Montagne, a unique day that pays tribute to the mountain farmers and breeders of Champsaur and the Hautes-Alpes. At 1,825 meters above sea level, the Place des Drapeaux and the Rue des Écrins are transformed into a vast space for celebration, discovery, and sharing of mountain know-how and Alpine terroir.
Producers' market and mini-farm
The heart of the festival is its local producers' market, open from 8:30 am, where visitors can discover and taste local products from the Hautes-Alpes: cheeses, cured meats, honey, jams, aromatic plants, and local crafts. An educational mini-farm allows children to meet mountain animals and understand the work of breeders.
Activities, shows, and competitions
The program for August 15th is full of activities for all ages: storytelling walks, woodcutting competitions, pedal tractor races, hay bale throwing, participatory workshops, round tables on mountain agriculture, and concerts in the late afternoon. Fireworks conclude the evening in a spectacular mountain setting.
Immersion at altitude on August 16th
The second day offers a unique experience: a guided hike from the summit of Drouvet to Rocherousse, punctuated by a concert of Alpine horns at the summit. This high-mountain immersion offers a moment of communion with nature and Alpine musical heritage, in a magnificent setting facing the Écrins massif.
