About Festival de la Poupée

The Festival de la Poupée, or "La Poupée dans tous ses états", is a cultural and festive event organized every year in October in Étain, in the Meuse region. For over twelve editions, the festival has celebrated the world of dolls through exhibitions, a doll and antique toy fair, workshops for children, shows, and visits to the Petitcollin factory, the last French doll factory. The cultural and tourist center of Étain (La Halle) hosts the event.

The Doll in All Its States: A Unique Festival in France

Étain, a small town in the Meuse region, is home to exceptional industrial and cultural heritage linked to the doll. This is where the Petitcollin factory, the last French doll manufacturing plant founded in 1860, is located. The Festival de la Poupée celebrates this unique heritage through a festive and family-friendly event that attracts enthusiasts and families from all over the region each year.

A Varied Program for All Audiences

The festival takes place over several days during the Toussaint school holidays and offers a rich program of activities:

  • Thematic Exhibitions: Each edition explores a different theme. The 12th edition delved into the world of Halloween. The exhibitions feature collections of antique and contemporary dolls in creative settings.
  • Doll and Antique Toy Fair: The traditional fair brings together collectors, antique dealers, and artisans specializing in dolls and toys. A restoration stand for antique dolls is available.
  • Visit to the Petitcollin Factory: A unique opportunity to discover the behind-the-scenes of the last French doll factory, with its artisanal techniques passed down for over 160 years.
  • Workshops and Activities for Children: Creative workshops, shows, and games allow the youngest to immerse themselves in the playful world of dolls.
  • Treasure Hunts and Fun Trails: Thematic trails in La Halle and in the town of Étain (barefoot trail from age 3, themed treasure hunts).

La Halle d'Étain: A Cultural Gem

The festival takes place in La Halle, Étain's cultural and tourist center, which also houses the Petitcollin Doll Museum and a dedicated shop. This modern and welcoming venue is an ideal anchor point for the event, offering exhibition, performance, and activity spaces suitable for all audiences.

Étain, Land of Heritage

Beyond the festival, a visit to Étain allows you to discover the rich heritage of this Meuse town: the Saint-Martin church with its remarkable altarpiece, the vestiges of World War I history, and the rolling landscapes of the Meuse countryside.

Festival de la Poupée — edition 2026

The Festival de la Poupée returns to Étain in October 2026 for a new thematic edition with exhibitions, a fair, workshops, shows, and visits to the Petitcollin factory.
