Festival de la Voix

A choral festival supported by the municipality

The Festival de la Voix is organized by the Athis-Val-de-Rouvre municipality, which opens the churches and community halls of its delegate communes to host the event and covers a portion of the costs: in 2023, the municipal council voted to grant €400 to the Saint-Vigor du Bocage Athisien parish to cover energy costs for the four concerts held in its churches. The last three editions have spanned nine days during the second half of October.

Past editions

The 6th edition, held from October 19th to 27th, 2019, was titled "Au Chœur des Collines de Normandie".

The festival was then put on hold for four years due to the health crisis. The 7th edition, from October 21st to 29th, 2023, featured ten vocal ensembles performing eight free concerts, bringing together over 200 choristers and 20 musicians for an audience of more than 1,200, according to the municipal newsletter.

The 8th edition, from October 18th to 26th, 2025, included seven concerts and seven choirs: La Lyre, Les Marie-Jeanne, Les Voix-ci les Voix-là, Choramuse, Dom’famiré, Ubuntu, and Voix d’été. The February 2026 municipal newsletter reported 160 choristers and 800 spectators.

Venues

Concerts are held in the churches and halls of four delegate communes: Saint-Vigor church and the Salle des Terriers in Athis-de-l’Orne, Sainte-Anne church and the hall in Ségrie-Fontaine, Saint-Pierre church in La Carneille, and the church in Ronfeugerai. The repertoire ranges from medieval music to contemporary works, including Renaissance and Baroque pieces, as well as polyphonic singing, world music, and popular songs.

Status of the 2026 edition

As of mid-August 2026, neither the municipality, the Flers Agglo calendar, nor the Orne Tourisme website have announced a 9th edition, even though these three sources previously promoted the 2025 edition concert by concert. The last two editions were held two years apart (2023 and 2025), with no event in 2024. The October 2026 dates displayed on this page are not based on any official announcement from the organizers.
