Traveling baroque and classical music festival in heritage sites of the Aube
The Festival de Printemps de l'Aube en Champagne is a traveling baroque and classical music festival created in 2024. Taking place in four communes of the Aube department (Fontaine-les-Grès, Aulnay, Mussy-sur-Seine, and Brienne-le-Château), the festival offers concerts in sometimes little-known heritage sites, revealed by the light and symbolism of stained glass, the artistic theme of the event. Renowned artists such as violinist and singer Noemi Gasparini and pianist Jean-Frédéric Neuburger perform in exceptional architectural settings.
Born in 2024, the Festival de Printemps de l'Aube en Champagne is a traveling music festival that has taken on the original challenge of combining musical excellence with the discovery of the architectural heritage of the Aube department. Over four days, concerts unfold in four communes — Fontaine-les-Grès, Aulnay, Mussy-sur-Seine, and Brienne-le-Château — taking over heritage sites sometimes unknown to the general public: churches, chapels, and historic buildings that music helps to rediscover in a new light.
The great originality of the Festival de Printemps lies in its artistic theme: stained glass. The Aube is one of the richest departments in France in terms of stained glass, with an exceptional heritage of 16th-century stained glass windows. The festival leverages this heritage by choosing concert venues where the light and symbolism of the stained glass dialogue with the music, creating a unique sensory experience. The colored light filtering through the ancient stained glass becomes an integral part of the show, enveloping musicians and spectators in a transcendent atmosphere.
The Festival de Printemps hosts renowned artists with unique artistic backgrounds. For its 2nd edition in 2025, the festival invited violinist and singer Noemi Gasparini and pianist Jean-Frédéric Neuburger as honorary artists, two musicians recognized for their virtuosity and artistic sensitivity. The intimate format of the concerts, in venues with remarkable acoustics and human scale, creates a rare proximity between artists and the public, far from conventional concert halls.
By choosing to move from one commune to another, the Festival de Printemps is part of a cultural decentralization approach that revitalizes the rural areas of the Aube. Each concert is an opportunity to (re)discover a village, a church, an architectural heritage, and to forge links between classical music and the inhabitants of the communes visited. The accessible pricing (€12 full price, €6 for members and residents of the host communes) reflects the desire to make classical and baroque music accessible to the greatest number, in the spirit of an open and welcoming festival.
The 3rd edition of the Festival de Printemps de l'Aube en Champagne is expected in Spring 2026. The traveling festival will offer baroque and classical music concerts in heritage sites of the Aube, with stained glass as the artistic theme. Program and dates to be confirmed.
