Traveling music between classical and traditional around the lakes of Morvan
Created in 2024, the Festival des Grands Lacs du Morvan is a traveling music festival around the lakes of Morvan. It creates a dialogue between classical music and traditional Celtic and Morvan music through concerts, free sessions, musical processions, dance initiations, and a grand closing ball. A young and ambitious cultural mediation festival.
The Festival des Grands Lacs du Morvan is a traveling music festival that goes through the towns located around the great lakes of Morvan, one of the most beautiful landscapes in Burgundy. Created in 2024 by the association Cadences du Morvan, this festival offers an unprecedented musical dialogue between classical music and traditional music.
The festival's originality lies in its programming, which brings together two musical worlds: classical music (Baroque, Classical, Romantic) and traditional music from the Celtic world (Ireland, Scotland, Brittany) and Morvan. This dialogue between genres creates unique and surprising musical moments, accessible to all audiences.
The festival moves from town to town around the great lakes of Morvan, with Montsauche-les-Settons as the central point. Each stop offers a concert in a different venue—church, village hall, outdoors—creating a musical journey through the magnificent landscapes of Morvan. The closing festival takes place in Montsauche-les-Settons with a grand traditional ball.
The program includes:
The festival pays particular attention to cultural mediation, offering singing workshops, dance initiations, and educational activities. It thus contributes to access to culture in rural areas and to the discovery of the musical heritage of Morvan and Celtic cultures.
