Short Film Festival in Ille-et-Vilaine
The Ille-et-Vilaine Short Film Festival is a cinematic event dedicated to French-language short films, organized annually by the association CinéMA35 (the department's cinema network). The principle is original: a selection of short films, chosen from nearly 700 received, is screened simultaneously in about thirty cinemas in Ille-et-Vilaine, on the same evening. The public votes to award the Audience Award, while a professional jury and a youth jury designate their winners during an awards ceremony.
Organized by CinéMA35, the association that has brought together the network of cinemas (mostly associative) in Ille-et-Vilaine since 1961, the Ille-et-Vilaine Short Film Festival celebrates French-language short films. Formerly called «French-language Short Film Competition», the event screens its selection throughout the department.
The festival's unique feature lies in its distribution: the competing short films (a program of approximately 1h30) are screened on the same evening in about thirty participating cinemas across Ille-et-Vilaine, at a preferential rate. The audience present in each cinema votes to award the Audience Award.
The selection is then submitted to a professional jury and a youth jury (15-25 years old), before an official and festive awards ceremony. Three main awards are presented: the Jury Prize, the Audience Award, and the Youth Jury Prize.
To find out the detailed program, the list of participating cinemas, and the terms, consult the official CinéMA35 website or the network cinemas in Ille-et-Vilaine.
